Launched in the year 2013 and completely funded by the Government of Hungary, the core mission of Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program is to increase the number of international students in the country while encouraging Hungarian higher education universities to attract top international students. This scholarship program is coordinated by Tempus Public Foundation and managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Based on the bilateral education cooperation contracts signed between the Ministries responsible for academics in the sending territories or nations and Hungary, the program currently engaged 80 sending partners on five different continents, with its geographical shape widening every year.

The main provisions covered by the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program are as follows:

• Tuition-free master's studies in Hungary. Approved candidates are completely exempted from paying their master's tuition fee for the entire duration of their studies in Hungary.
• Monthly stipend of HUF 43, 700 to the living expenditures of masters students in Hungary for 12 months a year throughout their studies.
• Free dormitory space or a housing allowance of HUF 40, 000 per month to manage accommodation costs for the entire scholarship period.
• Healthcare services as per the relevant Hungarian legislation and a supplementary medical insurance of up to HUF 65, 000 per year per person.

Bilateral State Scholarships

Based on financial support from the Government of Hungary, the Tempus Public Foundation offers scholarships to international master's students and researchers looking to gain further knowledge in Hungarian universities and research institutes. The candidates receive scholarships for a partial semester or three to ten months and full degree studies of two or three years. They receive a monthly stipend of HUF 56, 600 for master's studies in Hungary.

Bilateral State Scholarships

Another useful scholarship program by the Hungarian government, the Diaspora is available to students at 28 prestigious academic institutions across the country. Students awarded with this scholarship are exempt from tuition fee payment and also qualify for medical insurance and healthcare services up to HUF 100, 000.
